Its been a wild ride for San Angelo, Texas natives Henry, JoJo and Ringo Garza, aka Los Lonely Boys. Theyve come a long way since their days backing their old man (Henry, Sr.) playing country covers in bars while still in their teens, but its a credit to their deep humility and a work ethic as strong as the blood-brother harmonies that define their soulful Texican rock n roll sound that they havent become spoiled rock stars, even though theyve gotten far bigger than theyd ever imagined since launching their self-titled debut in 2003. The tally so far: a hit (Heaven), a major-label deal, a Grammy for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal (for More Than Love), a song recorded with idol Carlos Santana, and an impromptu recital for Paul McCartney not to mention opening for the Stones, a friendship with mentor Willie Nelson, all the media coverage and even a documentary, Los Lonely Boys: Cottonfields and Crossroads. And in July, the three bluesy brothers will release their second studio album, Sacred, which declares in the very first song, My Way, that theyre going to continue making music as they choose, regardless of what anyone else expects. They also reassure listeners that music, family and God really are what they hold sacred. Its not about fame or money; if that disappears tomorrow, Los Lonely Boys will still get out there and play. As bassist JoJo says, Its really just (about) trying to connect with the human spirit. But with this strong second offering, they wont have to worry about fading away anytime soon.
