Wolf Parade

There have been a number of Wolf bands that have crept into the mainstream press in recent months, but Montreals Wolf Parade are the lobos of choice the indie-kid set. The bands very first gig came about when they werent even a band, after friends in the Arcade Fire asked Arlen Thompson to open for them. Thompson teamed up with Spencer Krug, and the two came up with a number of songs in a matter of days while holed up in a tiny apartment. Theyve since expanded to a four-piece (with Dan Boeckner and Hadjii Bakara), and secured a deal with Sub Pop after being introduced to the label by Modest Mouses Isaac Brock. Wolf Parades debut, Apologies to the Queen Mary, came out last year, netting itself a whopping 9.2 (out of 10) from the notoriously tough critics at Pitchfork.
