Accordionist, singer and songwriter Stanley Buckwheat Dural has long been the premier proselytizer for the pleasures of the zydeco style from southern Louisiana, doing more than any other artist in the genre to take its infectious creole sound to rock and pop audiences. After honing his chops with Clifton Chenier, zydecos founding father, Dural struck out on his own in 1979, establishing his credentials as a traditionalist in the early to mid 1980s with releases on Rounder Records (earning two Grammy nominations) before becoming the first zydeco artist to win a major-label deal (and nab another Grammy nomination) and subsequently appear in The Big Easy. In recent years, Buckwheat Zydeco has continued to expand zydecos boundaries, and he will surely get the good times rolling in his Austin City Limits Music Festival debut.
