The Subdudes

Making their Austin City Limits Music Festival debut, the Subdudes are a great American music band, in their case with a Gulf Coast accent. Born out of an informal night of songs by its core members at Tipitinas in New Orleans in 1987, the group had to migrate to Colorado to start winning an audience. Mixing rhythmic rock with soul, funk and Louisiana music, they top their infectious musical gumbo with sharp songwriting and loamy vocal harmonies. After a 10-year, five-album run, the Dudes took a break for other projects, reuniting in 2002 to the delight of their loyal fans. The bands latest, Behind the Levee, produced by Keb Mo, reflects on the music and fate of their beloved hometown.
