While Randy Rogers isnt the first rising star on the Texas country scene to make the jump from regional hot-shot onto the national radar, he sure seems to have shot up the ladder from unknown to official next-big-thing a helluva lot faster than most. The preachers son put together his first band immediately before recording his 2000 debut, Live at Cheatham Street Warehouse, and by 2002s Like It Used to Be, he was a mainstay on the Texas Music Chart and packing dancehalls to the rafters. Then came 2004s ridiculously tuneful, Radney Foster-produced Rollercoaster an independent release which scored a national country hit with the single Tonights Not the Night and bam!, the major-labels came calling. Rogers and Co. signed with Mercury, which will issue the bands third studio album later this year. Rogers has also already scored a major breakthrough on the songwriter front, landing a cut (Somebody Take Me Home, co-written with Foster) on mainstream superstar Kenny Chesneys The Road and the Radio.
