Sweedish-born (of Argentinean heritage) troubadour Jos� Gonz�lez may not yet be a household name in America, but hes already taken the U.K. and much of Europe by quiet storm on the strength of his 2005 debut EP, Crosses, and its full-length follow-up, the widely acclaimed Veneer. Although he started his life in music playing in punk, hardcore and indie-rock bands, Gonz�lez found his true calling after mastering classical guitar and applying his sensitive-but-assertive vocals to haunting, downtempo troubadour fare (sung in English) in the Nick Drake and Tim Buckley tradition. The BBC, critics and concert audiences ate it up, propelling Veneer into the U.K. Top 10. And the buzz is already on the rise here in the States, with two of Gonz�lezs songs having already been featured on The OC and Veneer hailed by Billboard.com as an extremely promising example of big things to come.
