Former leader of the acclaimed late 80s Austin rock band Grains of Faith, Joe McDermott is now a big star among the children of the area. His regular appearances at schools and childrens events around the city have earned him legions of pint-sized admirers, not to mention plenty of adult fans as well who enjoy the positive, affirming messages in his imaginative songs. McDermott was the winner of a 2003 Parents Choice Award Silver Honor and a Gold Award winner in the Music, Ages 4 and Up category of the 2003 National Parenting Publications Awards for Childrens Resources.
